Voice: High pitched see notes ending in flourish.
Season: All year round.
IUCN Conservation Status: Least Concern
Along with the goldcrest it is the UK's smallest bird.

Food: Berries and worms.
Voice: ♂ Varied short song. Whistling flight call.
Season: Early September to early May. A few pairs nest.
Named after its red underwing, it is the UK's smallest true thrush. The sexes are similar. The male has a varied short song and whistling flight call. Forms loose flocks of 10 to 200 plus.

Habitat: Gardens and parks, grasslands, woodland and hedgerows.
Food: Insects and seeds.
Voice: The fink call of the chaffinch gives the finch family its name.
Prefers open woodland and spends a lot of time foraging on the ground. One of the most colourful of the finches.
