Green Turtle

Size: Length 78-112 cm 31-44 in.

Food: Fish eggs, mollusks, jellyfish, small invertebrates, worms, sponges, algae, and crustaceans.

Season: All year round.

IUCN Conservation Status: Threatened - Endangered

The green turtle is protectedin most countries. It is illegal to collect, harm or kill them or damage their nesting areas. Their range includes tropical and subtropical areas of the Pacific and Atlantic oceans.

Habitat: Tropical coral reefs of the Indian and Pacific Oceans.

Season: All year round.

Red-bellied Piranha

Pygocentrus nattereri

Family: Serrasalmidae

Habitat: Amazon River Basin, coastal rivers of northeastern Brazil, and the basins of the Paraguay and Paraná.

Season: All year round.

Usually the red-bellied piranha with the darkest red on its belly is in charge of the shoal and it stays in the centre of the shoal for protection. They are primarily scavengers.

Family: Pomacentridae

Habitat: Deep-water corals.

Size: Length 11 cm (4.3 in)

Food: Plankton and algae.

Season: All year round.

IUCN Conservation Status: Least Concern

It inhabits three different species of sea anemones: Heteractis magnifica, Stichodactyla gigantea and Stichodactyla mertensii and have symbiotic relationships with the anemone.

Sea Life London is home to one of Europe’s largest collections of global marine life, with over 500 species on display. The aquarium uses modern display technology, biological expertise, and entertainment to provide themed journeys through British, European and tropical waters.

A huge variety of sea life can be viewed such as sharks, string rays, turtles, starfish, crabs, clownfish, and octopus to mention just a few.

The Shark Reef Encounter has a glass walkway which allows you to walk above a shoal of sharks. It is also possible to book to go snorkeling with the sharks.

The aquarium is fully accessible for disabled people. There is a café serving hot and cold snacks.

Sea Life London is involved in several conservation projects around the world.
