The Observatory Science Centre is an astronomical observatory that is home to six historical telescopes which were left behind when the Royal Greenwich Observatory (RGO) moved to Cambridge in 1990. Several of the telescopes are used during open evenings for viewing. The 26-inch Thompson refractor was used recently by Venetia Burney-Phair to view Pluto for the very first time after naming it in 1930 as an 11 year old school girl.
There are numerous hands on science experiments and displays. There are also scientific and mathematical demonstrations and talks.
Outside there is a Discovery Park, aWater Planet which includes a Water Play area, andSoundDishes.
There is a café and gift shop.
